Spectrolite, scientifically known as labradorite, is a type of plagioclase feldspar. It belongs to the triclinic crystal system and exhibits anisotropy. When observed at specific angles, it displays iridescent colors.

Composition of Micro Objects#

When photographing small objects such as stones and figurines, there is a high degree of freedom in terms of angles, lighting, and spatial positioning. However, the more freedom there is, the more choices need to be made. Attention should be focused on the details and colors of the specific parts, and the background should be kept as clean as possible. A deep black background is the best choice as it creates a sense of mystery and enhances the contrast of the object's details.

Tone#

When the angle of the image is not ideal or when you want to highlight a specific feature of an object, post-processing can be used. For example, in this image:

image
The image is slightly overexposed, the background is not pure, and the color contrast is not strong, making it difficult to identify the subject at first glance.

We can make the following modifications: lower the background to pure black using an exposure layer, while ensuring the brightness of the subject by creating a mask with the brush tool or the lasso tool. Then, remove any unwanted colors, such as the light magenta on the stone texture, and increase the contrast of the target colors (blue, green). Additionally, add a curve adjustment layer to control the lighting of the stone's main body and emphasize certain areas. Finally, add a natural contrast layer to make the color modifications appear more natural.
